Hello everyone, as always I welcome you all. Today we are going to discuss Work in Progress for new upcomming module for Ashes of The Domain, titled : Question of Loyalty.

Alpha build will be ready soon so, lettuce begin.

Complete overhaul of commissions

From now on factions won't pay you just for existing, now like all of us, you need to do your part. Once you will ask officer about commission you will be presented with different text than usual, where it will be stated how you can progress commission and with what rank you start.

You start either as Mercenary or Planetary Governor (depending if you are getting commissioned while having colonies on your own already)

Advance through ranks

Now your payment is not tied to level of your character, bur rather your current rank within faction. To advance you just need to do stuff, that faction will benefit. Once you cross threshold for rank, you can ask same person who you asked for commission.

Gain new privileges

With your rank increasing your amount of privileges will rise.For example you get much less tariff on faction markets, or you can intimidate officers to not scan your cargo, after all how dare, do they know who you are?

Faction protects you

Once you hit colony phase, during being commissioned to one of factions not only you receive protection, but also crisis tied to commissioned faction will be fully averted. So for example you can fully avoid inspections by being commissioned by Hegemony!

Before release of alpha, I will want to implement colony contracts, that will represent bonuses that you get via crisis usually, as some will be locked due to commission.

Point of no return

Once you hit high enough rank (Usually Planetary Governor), you won't be able to leave faction. There will be warning before asking for promotion, if you are sure to promote to that rank, that will deny you ever leaving this faction..

There is much to be done

As from what i show, a tiny portion of entire plans has been done. We plan for each vanilla faction to have unique commission, with custom titles and privileges/effects. This serves more as template for other modders and for modded factions.
