Frequently Asked Questions
Below there are sections dedicated for either general stuff, or related to specific module.
Q: How compatible is AoTD with other mods?
A: AoTD is a Feature Overhaul mod, meaning core features are changed or altered. This almost guarantees incompatibility with any mod that tries to alter the same feature unless specifically stated to be compatible or to have a compatibility patch.
Q: Where can I download the mods?
A: The only official downloads are available on the official Ashes of the Domain website.
Q: Where do I find the source code?
A: All Git repositories for the source code can be found on Kaysaar's GitHub profile.
Q: Is there a Wiki?
A: Yes, but it is heavily outdated due to the ever-changing nature of development across all modules.
Q: Are there older/legacy versions available of modules
A: Yes, being the last versions pre Toolbox of Theory release, available under modules' "Release History" on their respective pages on the website.
Q: Why my game does crash on title screen?
A: Man, please you had like 2-3 warnings to read more info about modules really?
Q: Why do I have sudden deficit
A: 3 cases mostly : Either trade fleet got shot down, or your market demand has grown compared to last month (changed size), or there is global shortage and you just did not receive trade fleet, cause of low accessibility.
Q: Where can I find the megastructures?
A: In the same constellation as a hypershunt.
Q: I am getting an error regarding classes not marked with DoNotObfuscate, what do I do?
A: For pre VoK 5.0 versions, disable devmode in your settings file. If you need devmode, enable it through console commands after launch.
Q: I need to build a Coronal Receiver, how do I do that?
A: Interact with a stable point to construct it.
Q: How do I get more research databanks?
A: Farm research stations. Black holes and pulsars have an increased chance of spawning them. Colonizing a planet with a PCF and building a research lab also provides a monthly supply.
Q: Why can't I make shrouded stuff?
A: Obtain a black site by fighting the Shroud and continue researching technology. Eventually special projects will unlock.
Q: What are the differences between patrol fleet role options?
A: Recon focuses on fast pickets and light patrols. Home-guard focuses on combat patrol fleets. System Defence focuses on heavy detachments.
Q: Is there any way to force patrols to use certain weapons or wings like in vanilla?
A: The armory system has not yet been reimplemented.
Q: I can't seem to build certain structures on my colony.
A: Some buildings require the colony to be designated as your capital. This can be done by right-clicking Pop & Infrastructure.
Q: How many Cryosleepers and Arks are there?
A: By default there are 2 Cryosleepers and 1 Ark in the sector. The amount can vary depending on installed mods.
Q: Where can I find Cryosleepers or The Ark?
A: Their locations are randomized similarly to vanilla exploration content.
Q: How do I earn commission points?
A: Contact missions, destroying fleets, surveys, and bounties.
Q: How do I change the amount of possible governed colonies under commission?
A: Open the aotd_rank_data.csv file located in the Question of Loyalty module and edit the values in the allowedMarketsToOwn column.
Q: Will there be a setting to change this in-game?
A: Not currently, as that would require a partial rework of the existing system.
Q: I can't access certain features while commissioned. What's wrong?
A: Nothing is wrong. While commissioned, you work for another faction and do not possess your own independent faction.
Q: Is there a way to keep my colonies if I leave a commission?
A: Declaring independence is the only way to keep governed colonies after leaving a commission.
